Family

I have never met you,

no, never.

I’ve only heard stories of the past,

how my mother and your father

shared a sibling tie

that was broken

before the birth of you and I.

We’ve grown a couple months apart,

for 20 years at this point.

It’s tragic, really,

that we share the same blood,

but don’t feel like family.
